Microservices engagements
This page describes how we structure microservices architecture consulting when you are ready to move from conversation to a scoped agreement. It complements our services overview with engagement mechanics—not pricing tables.
Format A — Architecture discovery sprint
Best when: leadership agrees a split is needed but teams disagree on order of operations.
Activities: stakeholder interviews, runtime diagram validation, coupling heat-map from repos and CI, draft target service map.
Outputs: prioritized cut list, risk register (data, traffic, compliance), recommended contract-test starting points.
Typical cadence: one to two weeks of calendar time with two workshop blocks.
Format B — Deep-dive on one boundary
Best when: a single integration (payments, notifications, catalog search) blocks releases.
Activities: code walkthrough, failure-mode review, API/event draft, deployment sketch for the new deployable.
Outputs: boundary decision record your engineers can attach to epics.
Typical cadence: three to five working sessions.
Format C — Advisory block
Best when: you need senior architecture judgment on a live decision without a full discovery sprint.
Activities: prepared questions, screen-shared reviews, follow-up memo with action items.
Outputs: concise written answers referencing your context.
Typical cadence: booked in multi-hour blocks.
